Town of Fremont Trash and Recycling Program

Effective January 1, 2007, Allied Waste Services will be providing Residential Trash Pickup and Curbside Recycling Service to residential customers within the Town of Fremont. Curbside Recycling was included in the bidding and will be included at no additional cost to residents. Possible changes in the drop off recycling program offered by the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste District necessitated the addition of this program.

Trash Pickup will continue to be on Thursdays of each week and trash will need to be to the curb by 6:00 am. It is preferred that all items are bagged, boxed, or bundled and have a maximum weight of 50 pounds. Guidelines for Trash Pickup are included in this flyer. There is a 3-30 Gallon Can or Bag Limit per week.

Curbside Recycling will be on Fridays of each week and will also need to be to the curb by 6:00 am. Recycling bins will be delivered to each residence in December and guidelines for the service are included in this flyer.

If a Holiday falls during the week, Trash pick up will be on Fridays and Recycling pick up will be on Saturdays.


 

 Trash Pickup

Below are the terms listed for Trash Pickup for Fremont, Indiana:

-3 bag limit: 30-gallon bags (extra bags will have to have stickers purchased and placed on them)
-Trash pickup will be on Thursdays and will start at 6:00am
-Recycling will be on Fridays and will also start at 6:00am
-Recycling Bins will be delivered to homes in December

List of Unacceptable Wastes

  • ASHES-This includes burn barrels
  • LIQUIDS-This includes wet paint in cans, motor oil and containers
  • LEAD ACID BATTERIES-Batteries can be recycled. Car batteries and other large batteries(contact your local service station for instructions on recycling)
  • MEDICAL WASTE-This includes syringes, items saturated with body fluids
  • YARD WASTE-This includes grass clippings, branches, leaves, etc.
  • TIRES-Tires can be recycled and may not be placed in dumpsters
  • REFRIGERANTS-This includes any unit containing Freon.
  • ANY HAZARDOUS, RADIOACTIVE, OR PCB CONTAINING WASTES, including herbicides and pesticides are unacceptable

We prefer that all items are bagged, boxed, or bundled and have a minimum weight of 50 pounds.

Trash Pickup –Bulk Items

If you have Bulk Items for pick-up by Allied Waste Services, Bulk Item Tags can be purchased at the Fremont Town Hall, Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, 205 N. Tolford Street, Fremont, IN between the hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

Bulk Item Tags are $5.00 per tag and the following rules apply.

It takes 2 Tags for the disposal of TV’s, Large Upholstered Items,
and other Miscellaneous items.

It takes 3 Tags for the disposal of Stoves, Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators with the freon drained, and full sized Upholstered Items.

The appropriate number of tags are to be placed on each bulk item with the tag placed in an area visible from the road.

Extra Trash Pick up beyond the 3-30 Gallon Can or Bag Limit

A Trash Tag can be purchased at the Fremont Town Hall, Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, 205 N. Tolford Street, Fremont, IN between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

The Trash Tags are $1.00 per tag and each extra bag must be tagged with one Trash Tag. The maximum weight is 50 lbs per bag
and maximum bag size is 32 gallons.

Recycling Pickup

 

Below are examples of common items that can and cannot be recycled.

Can Recycle
-Junk mail
-Magazines
-Newspaper

  • Stack in brown paper bag.  Do not pack in plastic bags or tie in bundles.

-Corrugated Cardboard

  • Remove packing materials.  All paste board must have wax liner removed.  Flatten and place beneath recycling container.  Cereal boxes are ok, but no juice containers are to be recycled.

-Paper Grocery Bags
-Glass Jars and Bottles
-Plastic Bottles and Jars

  • Throw away caps.  Rinse bottle.  Acceptable: clear and green bottles, white milk and water jugs, colored detergent, softener, and bleach bottles.  Only #1 and #2 plastic are accepted.  No motor oil, transmission oil, or anti-freeze containers.

-Steel Food Cans

  • Rinse clean.  Labels ok.  Place lid inside can and pinch end close.

-Aluminum and Steel Cans

  • Drain completely.  You may flatten to save space.

-Cereal and Other Paste Board Boxes

Please, No Trash.  Non-recyclable items will be left in bin for you to dispose of properly.

All recyclable items can be mixed together in the recycle bin.
